Further researches also indicated the correlation between emotion and attention among adults (Gasper & Clore, 2002; Fredrickson & Branigan, 2005). However, conclusions on the relationship between emotion and attention have not been consistent, and the effect of positive emotion on the childhood attention network has yet to be fully resolved (Posner & Peterson, 1990; Finucane, 2009). The purpose of this study is to investigate the multiple domains of child emotion and the different aspects of attention, then examine how emotional feeling impacts the relationships between child temperament and attention. This study also considers that gender differences exist in these relationships. Method: The participants are 93 the lower-grade of elementary school students (51.6% were boys; Mean age = 6.87) and their parents (79% Mothers; 60% between 30-40 years old). Self-report inventories designed for Child included the emotional feeling scaling of the Day reconstruction method (DRM) and the emotional state scaling. Experimental tasks included Global-local task and the Child Attentional Network Task—Interaction (Child ANT-I). Surveys designed for Parents included the emotional Temperament scaling and the EAS Temperament Questionnaire. Result and Discussion: 1) The positive emotion of boys had a significant positive correlation with his global bias; 2) There was a significant correlation between global bias and orienting attention network among children; 3) Negative emotional feeling can improve alerting attention, while positive emotional feeling can reduce the executive control; 4) Specific emotional temperament can influence the alerting attention via specific emotional feeling, which means that emotional feeling is a mediation. Gender difference is an important factor when discussing the relationship between emotion and attention, and this phenomenon is worthy of further investigation in the future.
