It is found that the research on environmental protection is the main topic, and the biggest initiator of environmental destruction, and the human beings is usually not included in the discussion. In the thinking of the ecological environment, it seems that dehumanization can highlight the subjectivity of environmental ecology. However, the question arisen here is that if we only pay attention to the ecological environment, the issue must be carried out on the basis of dehumanization, and on a certain level it seems to reduce the human ability and responsibility for ecological destruction. In other words, what this dissertation attempts to discuss is that in the attempt to take the natural ecology as the main topic, dehumanization in this discussion is not the only feasible perspective. This dissertation will observe documentaries as study cases to explore how image narratives represent the circle of human and natural coexistence. To define the word “environment” in the context of this dissertation. This dissertation does not regard the “environment” as the definition of environmentalism specifically refers to the pollution of nature, such as water and air land; this dissertation tends to includes the modern living environment as a factor, such as government’s urban land consolidation policy that considers land as an economic property and forced residents to relocate and thus affect the subjectivity or identity of the residents. That is to say, my research will be included in the discussion of the environment around human beings and the various levels that can affect the existence of human life. The general term for “space” here is human-centered as it covers all things in the living space. Although its focus is on “man-caused external forces change the environment of human living space and of the other. Environmental documentaries in a nutshell is to use words, sounds, and images to represent the environmental problems that people derive from the natural ecological environment in order to survive, and to explore the relationship between people, other species, and environment. 博士 === 輔仁大學 === 跨文化研究所比較文學與跨文化研究博士班 === 107 === The aim of this dissertation is digging into the relevant research on
reading eco-environmental documentaries in order to explore new
discussion. It is found that the research on environmental protection is the
main topic, and the biggest initiator of environmental destruction, and the
human beings is usually not included in the discussion. In the thinking of
the ecological environment, it seems that dehumanization can highlight
the subjectivity of environmental ecology. However, the question arisen

discuss is that in the attempt to take the natural ecology as the main topic,
dehumanization in this discussion is not the only feasible perspective.
This dissertation will observe documentaries as study cases to explore
how image narratives represent the circle of human and natural
coexistence.
To define the word “environment” in the context of this dissertation. This
dissertation does not regard the “environment” as the definition of
environmentalism specifically refers to the pollution of nature, such as
water and air land; this dissertation tends to includes the modern living

and images to represent the environmental problems that people derive
from the natural ecological environment in order to survive, and to
explore the relationship between people, other species, and environment.
