Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 德國語文學系碩士班 === 107 === There are many famous Chinese literary works, and one of the “Four Great Classical Novels” is the God evil spirit novel Xiyouji, whose content or character is spread to many forms such as film and television, drama, animation and so forth. Meanwhile, Xiyouji was translated into many languages. The German abridged translation was first published in 1947. The full translation, which was translated by the Swiss Sinologist Lin Xiaofa (Eva Lüdi Kong), was published until the end of 2016. The culture of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in China is infiltrated in every story of Xiyouji. It is not easy for the translator to interpret the cultural information accurately, which is embodied in the names, poems and literary quotation, etc. Die Reise in den Westen, which was translated by Lin Xiaofa, is taken as the object of study in this thesis. As it is the first German full translation, the translator not only translates the meaning of the original completely, but also thinks over the reader's comprehension, and a lot of annotations are added in the translation. The purpose of this thesis therefore is to take the names and place names as examples, discussing the translatability of such nouns and translating technique based on Christiane Nord’s translation theory of “function plus loyalty”, and examining how the translator conveys the essence of the original to the reader through the translation.
