Summary: | 碩士 === 佛光大學 === 未來與樂活產業學系 === 107 === Rapid life pace and work stress result in sub-health status such as imbalance between body and mind. There are many folk healthcare therapies, but most of them lack understanding of the overall structure of life and the state of mind and body, which makes it difficult to really help people. Modern people are engaged in busy work and continuous work, and only have short breaks, so we should try to assist individuals to promote health and help people to maintain health in a short time. Studies have shown that meditation can affect people's brain waves to relieve stress, while audiovisual stimulation (AVS) is an easy way to adjust brainwave frequency by the combination of binaural wave difference techniques with visual stimulation. Research shows it is beneficial in terms of cognitive function, headache, and relaxation and sleep. This study explored the difference between the two short time interventions of meditation and AVS on the effects of physical and mental energy, and then hopes to suggest a simple and convenient implementation of the Lohas healthcare program.
The research subjects consisted of 35 healthy adults with an average age of 42 (±16.5) years. In the first stage, the 8-minute meditation with breath-counting method was used for short time intervention, and the second stage was the short time intervention with the 3-minute α wave and the 5-minute θ wave AVS, and the electroencephalogram (EEG), heart rate variability (HRV) analyzer and the meridian instrument were used for measurements before, during, and after the intervention to observe the difference between the two interventions and the two interventions between the two states.
The study found that the meditation short time intervention program made the subjects have both a relaxed and alert physical and mental state, increased the heart rate variability and caused total power to increase vitality; the power and ratio of the brain wave consciousness state enabled the subjects to enter a deep consciousness relaxation state; the meridian energy showed an increase in the right lung, and a reduction in the left and right triple-focal and right bladder. That is, the short time meditation intervention program can affect the body and mind, brain wave consciousness and meridian energy state.
The short time intervention program of AVS made the subject's physical and mental state relaxed and alert and the total power to increase the vitality; the superficial brain wave power of the brain wave consciousness state was in low active state, and the brain wave ratio showed the reduction in the shallow brain wave relaxation and the relaxation of the deep brain wave consciousness; the meridian energy in the left side increased and the wood element energy and autonomic nerve state increased. The short time intervention of AVS can affect the mind and body, brain wave consciousness and meridian energy state.
The superiority results of the two experimental interventions showed the advantage indicators of each observation instrument as follows. The superiority indexes for the relaxation state (α) of the brain wave power for the two interventions were opposite, the AVS caused the right brain relaxation state (α) reduction, and the meditation intervention resulted in the improvement of both the left-brain relaxation and the left-brain deep consciousness relaxation (θ) wave. The brain wave ratio was mainly the decrease of the left and right brain relaxation state (α) and the elevation of deep brain deep consciousness relaxation (θ) of the right brain due to AVS; the superiority index of HRV only appeared in heart rate variability (SDNN) improvement and heart rate (HR) reduction in meditation intervention; the superiority index of meridian energy for meditation was the increase in the right lung meridian and the left heart meridian, and the superiority index of meridian energy for AVS was the increase of the energy of the left liver and the gallbladder meridian as well as the wood element energy.
The dissimilarity results of the experiments of two interventions showed that the two experimental interventions had different effects on brain wave consciousness. The meditation intervention increased the deep consciousness relaxation in both the left-brain power and the right brain ratio, and AVS showed a low left and right brain active state in the brain wave power; the ratio of left and right brains reduced the relaxation of shallow brain waves and increased the relaxation of deep brainwave consciousness. The two experimental interventions had the similar effects on HRV and both made the subjects' relaxation and alert state increase and the total power to increase vitality, and meditation intervention also enhanced the subjects' heart rate variability. The two experimental interventions had different effects on meridian energy. The meditation intervention increased the energy of the right lung meridian as well as the left and right triple-energizer meridian, and reduced the energy of the right bladder meridian, while the left spleen meridian, left liver meridian, and left biliary meridian by AVS reduced the energy of the heart meridian and promoted automatic nerves and wood element energy.
Conclusions: Short time intervention of AVS (α + θ wave) using self-energy and meditation for a short time to initiate self-energy can affect people's mind and body, brain wave consciousness and meridian energy state. It is recommended that short time AVS and meditation interventional healthcare program can be extended to the general public and applied to daily life.
