Summary: | 碩士 === 佛光大學 === 傳播學系 === 107 === With the popularization of mobile communication tools, smart phones, and the rise of social media, selfie has already been the most common graphic and audio on the internet. It not only affects the way teenagers interact in their daily life but becomes an important medium for people to interact with others.
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among narcissistic personality, need for belongingness and selfie addictive tendency of junior high school students. Another aim of the study was to explore the moderation effect of need for belongingness between narcissistic personality and selfie addictive tendency.
Subjects of junior high school students from the seventh to the ninth grades of 2018 academic year in Taiwan were selected by stratified cluster sampling. The instruments applied in this study included “Narcissistic Personality Inventory”, “Need for Belongingness Scale”, and “Selfie Addiction Tendency Scale”. The valid questionnaires of subjects were 838, and the effective rate was 87.2%. All data was analyzed with SPSS 20.0.
The results were as follows: 1. Narcissistic personality is positively related to the selfie addiction tendency. 2. Need for belongingness is positively related to selfie addiction tendency. 3. Need for belongingness doesn’t moderate the link between narcissistic personality and selfie addiction tendency
On the basis of the results, the author suggests that in the new media literacy education we should pay attention to the adolescents with higher tendency to narcissistic personality and higher sense of belongingness and assist them to develop the ability of mobile communication.
