The hydraulic circuit design and component selection are based on the system requirements and components characteristics. During the test procedure of an aero-engine hanging on the test frame, the load on the hydraulic cylinder varies with time. In order to understand the effects of the components characteristics on the system response and to obtain the most suitable hydraulic components for the system, the fluid power simulation software, HyPneu, is applied for the system dynamic simulation. The analysis results show that the discharge Coefficients, Kv, of the directional control valve and of the flow control valve in the system has a significant influence on the cylinder velocity. The cylinder velocity increases as Kv increase. On the contrary, the cylinder velocity is restricted as Kv is decreased. The pressure drop in the valve increases as Kv decreases, which causes system relief valve to open and reduces the fluid flow into the cylinder. This study successfully provides the information of the hydraulic circuit design and the most suitable hydraulic components selection to fulfill the system requirements
