Such burial methods can not only reduce the cost of a funeral and alleviate the demand for burial grounds but also improve land recycling. This study explored three tree burial cemeteries (i.e., the Kuei Ssu Yuan, Chung Pu Yuan, and Feng Ai Yuan) in Taichung City regarding their planning, utilization, area, environment, transportation convenience, and maintenance. The distance between the cemetery and the nearest district office was 9.7, 2.5, and 3.8 km for Kuei Ssu Yuan, Chung Pu Yuan, and Feng Ai Yuan, respectively, indicating that Cheng Pu Yuan was the nearest cemetery to Taichung City. In addition, a public bus route directly passed by the entrance of Cheng Pu Yuan, rendering it the most convenient cemetery in terms of transportation. The three cemeteries adopted different ash burial methods: 1.Kuei Ssu Yuan in Beitun District adopted three burial methods, namely checkerboard-shaped burial, L-shaped burial, and irregularly shaped burial. 2.In Cheng Pu Yuan in Shengang District, ash burial sites were radial from the center of each tree. 3.Feng Ai Yuan in Daya District adopted geometrical, checkerboard-shaped burial. The results of weight analysis and group weight ranking were as follows: Concerning expert weighting, the importance of related factors, listed in descending order, is as follows: cemetery planning > regional environment > maintenance and management > transportation convenience. Regarding the citizen weighting, related factors were in the following descending order of importance: cemetery planning > maintenance and management > regional environment > transportation convenience. 1.The expert and citizen weight values for regional environment were 21.65% and 24.27%, respectively. 2.The expert and citizen weight values for cemetery planning were 37.73% and 34.62%, respectively. 3.The expert and citizen weight values for transportation convenience were 19.62% and 18.96%, respectively. 4.The expert and citizen weight values for maintenance and management were 21.00% and 24.14%, respectively. The results indicated that experts and the public hold different views on essential factors affecting the planning and management of tree burial in cemeteries. Regarding the currently available tree burial cemeteries in Taichung, the public emphasize the maintenance and management of these venues and expect that various aspects of the cemeteries be improved. The results of this study can serve as a reference to relevant authorities when planning subsequent tree burial cemeteries. TSENG LIANG 曾亮 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 132 zh-TW
