Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 創意設計碩士學位學程 === 107 === Augmented Reality (AR) will be one of the most important method and medium for the virtuality & reality cooperation in next generation. Through the relationship build between virtuality and reality, the information manipulation becomes more intuitive and accessible based on the notion of object-oriented design and location-based service. However, the AR applications still have the barrier due to the lack of spatial issue research. In this research, we try to argue the importance of Spatial Depth Perception and develop the AR projects based on it.
This research proposes the AR with Spatial Depth Perception and its framework. The Spatial Depth Perception AR is consisted of (1) virtuality & reality cooperation: the real spatial hierarchy of AR virtual objects, (2) HCI: user's deep operation of AR virtual objects, and (3)LBS: AR and real-world contextual links. There are three layers of The Spatial Depth Perception AR. (A) the physical layer: the real environment captured by the device lens, (B) the virtual layer: the virtual objects overlay on the real environment, and (C) the interface layer: the interactive area intervenes among physical and virtual layers. In addition, each layer has three different spatial depth characteristics to achieve the feeling of spatial depth.
In this research, 10 AR categories are developed based on the combinations of nine kinds of depth characteristics to illustrate the diagram of Spatial Depth Perception Index. It not only clarifies the depth relationship of the AR project in space, but also provides the reference and clue for AR developers. In conclusion, this research frames the context of Spatial Depth Perception AR and demonstrates the concrete AR practices for the next generation AR.
