Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 環境工程與科學學系 === 107 === Chemical dyes exist in our daily life, such as garment dyeing, food coloring, printing, and medical use.Dyes are an indispensable part of the industry, however if such substances are released into the environment they may affect the environment and ecology. If dyes enter the human body may cause harm. Sunset yellow (SY) dye used as food additive has not yet been found to be carcinogenic, genotoxic or developmental toxicity. The European Union (EU) and World Health Organization's suggest Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) is 0-4 mg/kg for SY dye. However, the IARC classifies sudan IV as Group 3 of carcinogens and ranks its primary metabolites Group 2 of carcinogens. The European Union has banned the SY addition as pigments in food. In this study the degradation efficiency of sunset yellow and sudan IV dyes by ozonization and ferrate was investigated. The degradation of dyes was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography and UV-vis spectrometer. The pH affects the degradation efficiency of dyes by ferrate, the optimal reaction condition is first carried out with 10mL 20mg/L dye, and the optimal degradation of sunset yellow and sudan IV was found at pH5, and then desiccation tests were carried out at 0.05 g, 0.10 g and 0.15 g.Ozonization is directly aerated with 300 mg/hr of ozone. The results show that both ozone and ferrate have a very good degradation effect on sunset yellow and sudan IV dye. The degradation is more than 90% after 5 minutes of ferrate added. The degradation efficiency of sunset yellow increases with the dosage, however, the degradation of Sudan IV is not as good as sunset yellow effective.Ozonization takes 15 minutes more than 90% degradation of both dyes was achieved. Degradation of both dyes in 10 minutes was found by potassium ferrate.
