Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 土地管理學系 === 107 === Along with the change of population structure which led to an aged society; a tremendous increase of senior citizens would also enhance the demands on long term care. Due to low birth rate, some schools have become the spare spaces for a shortage of student sources. As a result, how to activate these spare spaces for the uses of day care centers as well as senior nursery home has become a big issue in term of wasting the public resources. In recent years, a lot of recommendations have been presented to solve this issue as concerned by the public and expected to create benefits from the re-use policy of the spare spaces.
The main purposes of this study were intended to investigate the seniors and/ or their care takers’ demands on environment, facilities and services when the spare spaces and the nursery home are combined.
A questionnaire on-line survey was conducted and 390 copies were obtained to provide the data for statistical analyses. The study results included, first, respondents preferred spare spaces of abandoned schools and houses. Secondly, exploratory factor analysis was used to obtain 2 factors of environmental demands, they were: living conditions and place locations; then also 2 factors of facility demands were obtained, including medical care and professional skills; as to service demands, 2 factors were serving manners and activities. Third, there were significantly differences in demand preferences on environment, facilities and services among parts of social economic backgrounds of respondents. Finally, there were significant relationships among part of demands on environment, facilities and services.
According to the study results, some recommendations were presented for the references of government policy makers; some future study issues were also provided for interested researchers to conduct as well.
