This leads to the increase of aged population. Moreover, in today’s industrial society, the retirement plan is compulsory to be carried out. The life after retirement seems to be a very long time period that people should know how to prepare and well plan beforehand. Thus, in order to live a happy and fulfill life after retirement, it relies on retirees’ planning in advances. Needless to say, retirement is a turning point in one’s life. Before retirement, people would define their self-value by their career, work achievement and social position. However, to retire means to part from their career stages. It is necessary to adjust one’s psychological states and cognitive function to adapt to the life after retirement. The purpose of this study is to explore the improvement in psychological adjustment and cognitive function of retirees. Moreover, the research is aimed to find out the relationship between psychological adjustment and cognitive function. Questionnaire Survey method was adopted in this study and 240 effective surveys were successfully retrieved. SPSS and AMOS are used as analytical tools. The study shows that psychological adjustment positively affects cognitive function. Based on the conclusion of this research paper, several suggestions are proposed for the educational bureau, social administration unit and for the future research.
