In order to meet the needs of customers, the business environment is fiercely competitive. In order to survive, enterprises must invest ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) to improve its competitive advantages. However, to adapt new business model and conduct new business processes, upgrading ERP system is compulsory to make ERP faster, more complete and more sound. Upgrading ERP system for SMEs is not an easy task due to their shortage of capital budget, lack of information system staff and insufficient education and training of employees. They may face technical problems such as low upgrade efficiency, long downtime, difficulty in assessment, and high risk. This study introduces a case of a company which upgraded SAP B1 based on the methodology of SAP Business One Accelerated Upgrade Program (SAP B1 AUP). There are two research questions for this study. One is whether SAP B1 UP is able to help companies upgrade SAP B1 efficiently while another is to introduce the difficulties and solutions of upgrading ERP for SMEs based on the case. According to the results of this study, we found that SAP B1 AUP is a well-designed methodology. SMEs can upgrade their ERP system by following SAP B1 AUP and avoid the risks of upgrading occurs. Additionally, the case company took positive attitudes toward the upgrading due the good communication before the upgrading started. Thus, the managerial problems mentioned in the literature did not happen in this case. The only problem occurred was the systematic issues: the problem of new system. Overall, this study can be a reference for SMEs when upgrading their ERP system. Liu, Ying-Chieh 劉熒潔 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 91 zh-TW
