It can also be considered as a type of organism. It can expand and even shrink, and thus result in various related theories about urban planning and urban regeneration. Nevertheless, as cities have been the center of attention, what has been forgotten is the impact received by rural areas while cities are expanding and regenerated. Therefore, this study is discussing the strategies of reviving urban-rural fringes. With the development of globalization, faces of most cities are practically identical. However, in an urban-rural fringe, what is being presented is the discontinuous mixed landscape of buildings with low density and the empty space of nature. Since these areas with diversity are not restricted by regulations of regional planning, it is difficult to utilize a single theory or strategy to revive them. Owing to the issues above, this study not only is based on the theories of regional development and uses cases of reviving areas as references, but also uses the design method of afterimage, trying to construct strategies and design methods to revive urban-rural fringes.
