Summary: | 碩士 === 朝陽科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系 === 107 === As the focus of people’s life is gradually placed on leisure activities, and the concepts of environmental protection is increased, bicycle exercise becomes more popular. In addition, cyclists upgrade their bikes from mountain bikes (MTB) to road bikes (RA bikes) due to the pursuit of riding comfort and speed. This led to the increase in the demand of RA bike handlebars at Company J. In the manufacturing process of RA bike handlebars in Company J, polishing procedure is carried by hand. It is easy to cause occupational injury. This study aims to provide Company J an improvement in polishing procedure and operation to reduce both the production cost and the possibility of occupational injury.
The purpose of this study is to improve the polishing procedure and operation of RA road handlebars. First, it was found that the entire polishing procedure of RA bike handlebars is performed by hand and is the most labor-intensive operation by Standard Work Combination Sheet. Next, the Key Indicator Method (KIM) is used to analyze and evaluate the work motion of the polish operation. By introducing the semi-automatic machine to reduce the long-term hand-held operation, and reduce the possibility of the occupational injury.
After importing the semi-automatic polish machine for RA road handlebar, it was found that there was lots of idle time for the operator if one operator was assigned to handle one machine. Next improvement is to assess the man-machine allocation. It was found that it had better performance, i.e., the less idle time for the operator, if one operator was assigned to handle two machines. Furthermore, the Standard Operation Combination Sheet was applied again to assess and found that there was still some idle time left for the operator. Finally, an automatic machine was designed. The polish process and the sandblasting process, the next procedure after the polish process, were combined, by ECRS principle. This improvement caused that two processes can be performed by only one operator and streamlined the manpower requirement for the company. The improvement provided in this study, not only reduced the cost and
The improvement provided in this study may help Company J not only to reduce production and labor cost based on the quality and quantity demand by customers, but also to reduce the possibility of occupational injury. Moreover, it may increase the profit of Company J in the future.
