Summary: | 碩士 === 中臺科技大學 === 護理系碩士班 === 107 === Background and Purpose:In medical institutions, medical staff is always stressed under theemergency situation and during the first aid process, and life-threatening situations often catch the medical staff off guard. Albeit the hospitals hold regular first-aid education trainings maintain as well as toimprove thefirst aid skills, clinical medical staff already learned the skills, and is capable of patient rescue, the related teamwork training appears insufficient. The importance of the management of the team resources is revealed by the fact that smooth cooperation during emergency medical services is crucial to the success rate and medical quality. The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of first aid service after introducing team resource management in the Resuscitation Education for clinical nursing staff.
Materials and Methods: This is a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research design. After Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, nursing staff in a regional teaching hospital in the central Taiwan is enrolled, and the
performance indicators were collected before and after the team resource management course. The performance indicators include the difference between the pretest and posttest of “self-assessment of first-aid ability” and the “patient safety attitudes questionnaires (SAQ) in the medical institutes”. Data analysis was carried out with SPSS20 software.
Results:The overall self-assessment of the nursing staff's first-aid ability was 3.67 points (out of 5 points), and the average patient SAQ was 3.75 points (out of 5 points); after the intervention of the team resource management course, both the self-assessment of resuscitation education and the patient SAQ scores are significantly improved as 4.17 and 4.36, respectively, indicating the effectiveness of team resource management training course. Conclusions: Active promotion and implementation of team resource management will build a strong emergency team for more complete and precise advanced cardiac life support as well as increase its successful rate. Results of this study provide the medical caretakers and researchers the reference for practical management and future studies. Keywords:Resuscitation Education, team resource management,Resuscitation Effectiveness
