By improving the fitness level through exercise, it can strengthen the ability of daily life and achieve a good healthy living quality. Objective: To explore the effects of Changsheng Twelve-type Training (CT) for middle-aged functional fitness. Methods: 20 subjects were recruited (10 males: age 51.20 (5.18) years old, height 170.70 (4.15) cm, body weight (72.33 (9.55) kg; 10 females: age 56.40 (3.64) years old, height 169.10 (8.07) cm, body weight 74.02 (20.62) kg). We performed CT for 8 weeks (four times a week, 60 minutes each time), and evaluated the functional fitness before/after intervention. All data were analyzed by Paired t-test and ANCOVA. Results: After eight weeks of CT: 1. Body mass index decreased significantly (p< .05) (-2.13% for male ; -1.96% for female).2. FF increased significantly (p<. 05) including lower limb dynamics (counter movement jump: 7.18% for male; 17.83% for female), balance for dominant leg (one-leg stance test with eyes open: 16.28% for male, 13.95% for female), cardiopulmonary capacity (UKK2000: 51.89% for male, 36.51% for female) and flexibility of dominant arm (back scratch: 83.62% for male and 142.86% for female).Conclusion: The middle-aged people might improve the FF level of lower limbs performance, balance, cardiopulmonary fitness and upper limb flexibility after eight weeks of CT.
