Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 資訊管理學系 === 107 === The flourishing field of information management (IM), both domestic and abroad, has resulted in a diverse array of research areas and topics. Studies on utilizing theories found in IM papers can facilitate our understanding of trends in IM research. For the IM scholars of Taiwan, IM journals are important communication channels, allowing us to observe the latest developments in Taiwan’s research on information management. The paper published by Ying, M.H. and Hsueh, S.M. in 2013 analyzed the state of and trends in how IM theories have been applied in papers published in domestic journals. This study adopts the same research approach to analyze the utilization of IM theories in IM journals of the past few years. This study adopted a content analysis approach based on the 23 common theories included in the book Information Management Theories authored by Professor Liang, T.P. This approach is used to analyze the eleven core journals in the field of management as listed in the Evaluation of Taiwan Humanities and Social Sciences Journals and the Collection of Core Journals 2017. A total of 2,569 papers published between 2008 and 2018 were reviewed to understand the current state of and development trends in the utilization of IM theories in academic papers. Further investigations were conducted on the impact differences in chronological context and academic background have on the utilization of IM theories in papers published between 2008-2018 in Taiwan’s core management journals. This study has found that the drop in the total number of journal articles between 2008 and 2018 resulted in a decline in the percentage of papers that utilized theories. However, the percentage of papers that utilized IM theories remained above 14% in most years; the exception being 2017, which saw a fall to 10.50%, demonstrating that the utilization of theories is still valued by scholars. Papers that utilized resource-based theories, technology acceptance models, or social exchange theories accounted for the highest percentage. Moreover, due to their high rate of utilization in papers, social capital theories and social identity theories were also considered common theories despite not being included in Professor Liang, T.P.’s Information Management Theories. The utilization of IM theories in papers published between 2008-2018 of Taiwan’s core management journals did not show any significant difference with regards to different chronological context or academic background. The conclusion of this study may be used as a reference for IM theory selection in future studies.
