Di-Zi-Gui is the crystallization of the wisdom experienced by the past sages. They are the introductory book for cultivating morality and the best reading for the children of education. It is also helpful to read the perspective and the implementation of literacy and understanding of the national character. It can be used as a part of the literacy teaching strategy.
By adopting the action research method, this research discusses the feasibility and achievement of applying Di-Zi-Gui to the low grades character education in the elementary school. The objects of which are targeted at 21 second-grade elementary school students in the researcher’s teaching school. With the core values of personal character such as piety, friendship, responsibility and respect as topics, an 8-week action research is conducted. During the research process, data collection and analysis were carried out through actual teaching, classroom observation records, study sheets, parental interview records, feedback forms, and thought-saving notes.
Through the implementation of the two-month character conservation curriculum, the research results are as follows:
1. Summarize the theme that is suitable for the character of the lower grades.
2. Use the Disciples to find feasible teaching strategies and curriculum activities, which will arouse students' interest and love of learning.
3. Students' learning performance and vision change during the teaching process and the growth and reflection of the teachers themselves.
4. Provide relevant opinions and suggestions for the reference of the educators and future
researchers.
