We recruited 5 post-stroke patients with onset over six months and continued to receive rehabilitation therapy for 6 months in the hospital. The purpose are as followings : 1. The rehabilitation processing of patients receiving occupational therapy. 2. The learning connotation during the rehabilitation processing of patients receiving occupational therapy. 3. The learning method during the rehabilitation processing of patients receiving occupational therapy. 4. The difficulties and responses during the rehabilitation processing of patients receiving occupational therapy. 5. According to above problem, summed up the learning needs. This study used qualitative research depth interview. We used semi-structured depth interview to collect data. After analyzing the interview data, we summarized these results: Rehabilitation process concluded 4 stages: 1. Confusing stage, 2. Panic stage, 3. Seeking for rehabilitation stage, 4. Dependency stage. Learning connotation during rehabilitation process: I. Learning motivation:patient was eager to recover,searching for professional treatment,they wanted to try everything which may be helpful,using past experiences to resolve inconvenience in life. II. Main learning method: obeying professional authority, practicing more, self-directed learning, modeling learning, non-professional learning. III. Main learning contents: rehabilitation goals and contents. IV. Difficulties of rehabilitative learning: physical change after stroke, changed time management, a peck of trouble in daily life, uncertainty for future, lack of rehabilitative resources, to start off with a bang but end up with a whimper … etc.Anyway, post-stroke rehabilitation was a conflicting processing. V. Responsiveness of rehabilitation learning: following professional rehabilitation of the therapist, conducting the confidence of rehabilitation by themselves, reconnecting with past experiences, making it a rule to do exercise regularly and spontaneously, support from peers, feeling that they were more fortunate than other patients, sufficient economy to supply their rehabilitation, adding life experience into exercise prescription, trying every alternative therapies. Learning needs during rehabilitation process: 1.Learning needs for the knowledge of stroke and medical rehabilitation. 2.Learning needs for doing activities of daily living. 3.learning needs to establish the life role of stroke patients. 4.learning needs for social interaction. 5.learning needs for getting jobs and adjustment for work. 6.Learning needs for peer group. 7.Learning needs for confidence reconstruction. Conclusion: 1. Strong desire to recovery independent function. 2. They need 1) professional guidance, 2) support from peer during the rehabilitative processing. 3. As compare to the regular rehabilitation and medical treatment, patients more willing to trust other alternative therapies. 4. A lot of difficulties during the rehabilitative processing, and lower confidence was the most serious emotional problem. 5. The responses of post-stroke patients during rehabilitative processing were non-scientific. 6. Learning needs were multi-faceted for post-stroke patient. (1) Physical level: They eager to learn all the knowledge and information related to their disease. (2) Psychological level: They need encouragement and to learn how to rebuild their confidence and role positioning. (3) Supporting level: accompany ship and supports from peers, chatting with others,modeling learning are very important.
