Lifelong learning is becoming more and more important for the aging of Taiwanese middle-aged and elderly adults. The middle-aged and elderly adults who study English have an active aging experience. National core competencies of the English, related issues are important. Based on this concept, this study explores the advantages and disadvantages of middle-aged and elderly adults learning English, and the application of middle-aged and elderly adults to learn English. This study uses the hermeneutic method of qualitative research to explore the meaning of grit integrate deliberate practice to learn English self-efficacy in middle-aged and elderly adults, collect research data by semi-structured interview method, and select 10 middle-aged and elderly adults over 45 years old by sampling. Conduct interviews, collect interview data and conduct research. There are five purposes for research: 1. Exploring the advantages and disadvantages of middle-aged and elderly adults to learn English; 2. Explore grit of middle-aged and elderly adults learning English; 3. Explore grit integrate deliberate practice of middle-aged and elderly adults learning English; 4. Explore the middle-aged and elderly to learn English application into grit integrate deliberate practice to learn English the meaning of self-efficacy 5. Based on the research results, put forward the practice of middle-aged and elderly adults English learners and English teachers in curriculum. After analyzing grit, deliberate practice, middle-aged and elderly adults to learn English characteristics and self-efficacy, based on research purpose and drafted the research concept framework to compile the interview outline for interviews. The research h conclusions are as follows: 1. Three characteristics of middle-aged and elderly adults to learn English. (1) Middle-aged and elderly adults have a lot of motivation to learn English mainly to meet the needs of foreign tourism to communicate personally. (2) The biggest advantage of consciously learning English is the ability to learn new knowledge of English in combination with rich experience. The biggest is disadvantage is that memory decline. (3) Learning English at a young age is mostly not practical and boring for the exam, interest and demand are automatically spontaneous learning. 2. Middle-aged and elderly adults to learn English with grit as the basis and deliberate practice method to learn (1) Grit is the first priority for middle-aged and elderly adults to learn English. (2) The actual English learning method of the middle-aged and elderly adults to Learn English interviewed is not completely consistent with deliberate practice four principles. 3. Grit Integrate Deliberate Practice English learners have higher self-efficacy and positive meaning when they participate in English courses. (1) The participation of middle-aged and elderly adults in English learning courses enhance English competencies. (2) Applying grit integrate deliberate practice to learn English, middle-aged and elderly adults have attitudes, skills, and knowledge about self-efficacy the positive.
