Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 建築與室內設計系 === 106 === Architecture is the art of space; music is the art of time. Architecture always is seen as “the music in space”. There are many common things between architecture and music. The cross-boundary relationships between architecture and music have been studied since Renaissance. Through reviewing researches focused on the relationships between architecture and music, it is found that there are some studies between architecture and western music but Chinese music. This thesis surveys the studies of architecture and music, and finds that the research between architecture and Chinese music deserves further investigation.
This research firstly collects essays on architecture, guqin and Chinese Three Views to understand current studies on this topic. Then to analyze Chinese Three Views in architecture and guqin and to investigate the concept of “Tiandao, Didao, Rendao” in architecture, thus to construct design method in space in terms of Chinese’s Three Views. Finally to develop a design method to transfer guqin music to architecture.
The theoretical model includes two parts: 1. to transfer guqin music to architecture in terms of “Chinese Three Views”; 2. to implement the design method in transferring guqin pieces “Drunken Madness” and “Harmony between Gods and Humans” into architecture in order to verify the method. This study finds that it is feasible to construct a design method to transfer the art of time into the art of space. This result illustrates that architecture and music can be translated to each other.
