The obligation of employers to protect the physical and mental health of employees was added to Article 6 in the act, along with rules for its enforcement that state that preventive measures should include an analysis of the workflow, the job content, and actions; confirmation of ergonomic risk factors; improvement methods and implementation; and effectiveness evaluations and improvement. Musculoskeletal injuries caused by occupations are prevalent among workers in Taiwan. This topic requires attention and reflection. In recent years, print media have frequently reported the topic and have stigmatized businesses as “sweatshops.” The academic community attributes musculoskeletal injuries to such common causes as excessive force, poor working posture, repetitive actions, and the concurrence of all three. These causes often lead to discomfort, fatigue, soreness, and illness in the neck, shoulders, back, waist, wrists, and elbows. Ergonomic inspection methods, improvement technologies, and effectiveness evaluations can be used to improve the facilities, environments, and physical navigation in workplaces. In this study, quality control circle activities were integrated to introduce proposed improvement systems, ergonomic inspection methods, improvement technologies, and effectiveness evaluation models into manufacturing processes to help businesses improve their production lines, to shorten distances for collecting materials, to reduce the frequency of workers having to bend at the waist, and to enhance safety and health awareness. The Key Indicator Method and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire were employed to verify the effectiveness of these improvements.
