This is a qualitative study to collect persons with psychiatric disability who have been involved in rehabilitation centers of a psychiatric community in south central Taiwan for more than three months,A total of 8 interviewees were selected to conduct in-depth interviews with their realities through fieldwork And focus groups twice times, verbatim drafting and category subject induction. The primary results of the research are summarized as follows: 1. The childhood upbringing experience of the subjects is primarily reflected in poor adjustment, bullying and exclusion in school, or change in family structure and atmosphere. And if subjects later face role changes in society, major life pressure which will continue to affect the development and adaptation for the subjects in the process and gradually bring out different aspects of recovery. 2. Factors that hinder restoration are: the influence of the disease, the personal defi- cits ,social stigma, can not be seamless with society and the environment with pressure. 3. Through a comprehensive analysis, the researchers found that the key factors that promote recovery of the subjects are: (1) initiation of individual internal drive: "self-awareness", "alliance of recovery", "self-affirmation", "positive thinking nd personality traits" and "obstacle handling ability".(2) support from external social networks: community-based mental health rehabilitation institutes, peer groups, family, and religious beliefs. 4. Participation in community rehabilitative recovery advantages: "discovery of self-advantage, enhancement of self-identity and sense of value”, "interpersonal interaction learning, social participation, and social experience", "connections to external resources, and establishing social support networks ", "emphasis of the individualized difference of the subject ", "being in a mutually trusted and acceptance relationship". 5. The positive changes of the internal drive of the impaired, the establishment and expansion of external resources support network system is the turning point of recovery. Based on the above results, specific recommendations for the treatment of the subjects, mental rehabilitation agencies, government agencies and follow-up studies are provided in this study for reference.
