Summary: | 碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 生物醫學資訊研究所 === 106 === Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a kind of transcripts with length of more than 200 nucleotides that are not translated into proteins. They have been found to be involved in numerous important biological processes and play significant roles in diseases. However, with the increased large number of lncRNAs observed, only a relatively small portion of them has been functionally annotated. LncRNAs may exert their functions through transcriptional or post-transcriptional mechanisms, partly through competition of microRNAs with mRNAs.
We have developed an interactive web application, Lncternet, for construction, analysis, and visualization of lncRNA modulation networks from gene expression profiles. Lncternet can interrogate the expression profiles of mRNAs, miRNAs and lncRNAs and compute their co-expression networks to identify the coherent associated modules. Various association indexes and network parameters can be evaluated using the provided visualization and evaluation tools. Users can navigate each lncRNA modulation network to visualize the associated protein-coding genes and miRNAs, reveal their involved biological functions, and identify the key lncRNAs for further experimental verifications to figure out their molecular mechanisms.
