Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 運動教育研究所碩士在職專班 === 106 === This purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 10 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) exercises into math class on the attention ability of elementary school students. The participants for this study were 48 third-grade students from an elementary school in New Taipei City, divided into a control group (25 students) and an experimental group (23 students). For the control group, there was no intervention of 10 minutes of MVPA exercises during math class. The experimental group went through a forty-minute class period, including thirty minutes of teaching and intervention of 10 minutes of MVPA exercises, thrice per week, for ten weeks. Related data concerning attention performance of elementary school students was collected before and following the experiment. Research data was analyzed through descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA independent samples. The findings of this study was as follows: After 10 minutes of MVPA exercises into math class, children belonging to the experimental group scored significantly better than those belonging to the control group in “focused attention”, “selective attention”, and “divided attention”. However, variables on “continued attention” and “alternating attention” had no significant effect. Conclusion: Study results do not completely agree with all assumptions, yet significance has been partially reached. Future studies are recommended to: 1. Explore the continued effect on attention after intervention has ended. 2. The subjects for this study are third-grade elementary students; future studies may further analyze the effect on different grades.
