The sample consisted of 553 students from public schools in Taiwan and 494 students from independent high school in Malaysia with purposive sampling. The measurement tools applied in this study included "Parental Socialization Scale", "Perceived Parental Education Expectations" and "Achievement Motivation Scale". Data were analyzed by t-test, multiple regression analysis and Sobel test. The results were as follows: 1.The socialization of parents in Taiwan and Malaysia (interpreters of experience, providers of experience) and the expectations of parental education perceived by eighth-grade students are all at middle to high level. 2.The expectancy belief of Taiwan's eighth-grade students is at a low to middle level, with the highest score of "perceive ability expectancy".The value belief of Taiwan and Malaysia’s eighth-grade students are of middle to high level with the highest score of “cost”. 3.There are significant differences in the socialization of parents in different countries, Taiwanese parents is significantly higher than that of Malaysian parents. 4.There are significant differences in parental education expectations perceived by eighth-grade students in different countries. The expectation of parental education in Taiwan's eighth-grade students is higher than that of Malaysian eighth-grade students. 5.Eight-grade students of different countries have significant differences in " interest value", "attainment value" and "utility value". On the three aspects, Malaysian eighth-grade students are higher than Taiwan's eighth-grade students. 6.The "experience interpretation" of Taiwanese and Malaysian parents could positively predict value belief. The "providing experience" of Taiwanese parents could positively predict achievement motivation. 7.The "experience interpretation" and "providing experience" of Taiwanese and Malaysian parents could positively predict parents' educational expectations perceived by eighth-grade students. 8.Parental education expectations perceived by Taiwanese eighth-grade students could positively predict achievement motivation. Parental education expectations perceived by Malaysian eighth-grade students could positively predict value belief. 9.The expectation of parental education perceived by the eighth graders in Taiwan and Malaysia have a significant mediated effect on interpretation of experience and value belief. 10.The expectation of parental education perceived by the eighth graders in Taiwan have a significant mediated effect on provision of experience and achievement motivation. The expectation of parental education perceived by the eighth graders in Malaysia have a significant mediated effect on provision of experience and value belief. Based on the results, the researcher provides some suggestions for parents, teachers, counselors and future studies.
