碩士 === 大同大學 === 工業設計學系(所) === 106 === "Bento" plays a very important role in the food culture of Taiwan and Japan.In the food culture of Taiwan,the word "Bento" is according to usage of the word " 弁 当 "left by the Japanese colonial period,which means "convenient things , conveniences".With the change of the times,It has become "a single portion take-out or home-packed meal". With the rise in public awareness of global environmental protection,there are an increasing number of people who is welling to use Bento boxes to reduce the waste of containers and packages .Therefore , this study investigate the eating habits of people in Taiwan and Japan’s outside residents through the diary study , then using thematic analysis to search for themes or patterns from the collected data, and summarize the design elements of Bento Boxes through distinguish the Bento box product in Taiwan and Japan. Consider to find the user's real needs, the research adopts the diary study as the research method, which collects information from participants by having them repeatedly record their eating habits .Then using thematic analysis to search for themes or patterns from the collected data.And also give the suggestions for designing Bento Box products in the future.Through analysis of research results,we will explore the feasibility of future research into Bento box design. According to the survey ,the results were described respectively as below: (1)From the history of the lunch box, with the evolution of the times, people's culture of eating Bento is closer to life, and the design appearance is getting closer and closer to the Bento box products that can be seen in daily life. (2)The development of Bento culture in Taiwan and Japan is different from its characteristics. Analysis of the current use of Bento boxes in Taiwan and Japan shows the influence of food culture on the choice of utensils and the relationship between eating habits and willingness to use the bento box products. (3)Both Taiwanese and Japanese users are more willing to use products that are more functional, so how to use them flexibly when designing a lunch box container is highly desirable. (4)In the design of the lunch box, both Taiwan and Japan are likely to use square containers. In terms of color usage, Taiwanese users are highly rated for brighter colors, while Japanese users prefer primary colors. (5)According to the analysis of experimental data in Taiwan and Japan of the dietary habits,it found that the frequency of eating and the frequency of cooking are related to the choice of bento box products, so it must be selected with function and materials when design the bento box.
