碩士 === 國立臺北藝術大學 === 電影創作學系碩士班 === 106 === My Mom’s Wedding is a 25-minute short film. The story is about a middle-aged Taiwanese woman who gets married to a much younger man. Formerly she has been relegated to the role of “mom,” but now she reveals all the sides of her nature: desiring, attractive, anxious. She becomes a woman in full. The story focusses on the triangular relationship between the woman, her young fiancé, and her only daughter, who is a young professional and, coincidentally, going through problems in her own marriage. The daughter initially feels anger at her mother, but when she sees that her mother is a woman, too, she feels compassion for her, and her feelings change. The film’s finale is a wedding scene in which the family and the community celebrate. This essay analyzes the genre and style of My Mom’s Wedding, and discusses the production process behind it. It also explains the theme and structure of the script, the performances, cinematography, lighting, sound, art design, and editing of the film.
