Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 藝術史學系藝術史與藝術評論碩士班 === 106 === Maurice Utrillo (1883-1955), the early 20th century French painter, was known by his cityscapes of Montmartre. The style of his artwork had switched greatly during 1914 to 1920, which covered the White Period of 1910 to 1914 and the Colorful Period of 1915 to 1930.These two periods were the important and brilliant periods, but the discussion of Utrillo’s artwork merely stayed on inspiration and religion from his life experience. The purpose of this thesis is to understand the key and characteristics of his artwork while the style switched. Therefore, this thesis will compare the style of each period based on style analysis, sociology of art and historical research. Another aim is to explore “The Stereotype of Montmartre” which Utrillo had constructed through his cityscapes, and how did “Schema” reflect the artistic imagination of Montmartre street from public’s view.
