The impact of self-esteem and social support on room-pension attitude of the middle and old aging people in the great Taipei-area

碩士 === 淡江大學 === 企業管理學系碩士在職專班 === 106 === With the progress of the society, the aging society of Taiwan is not only having the problem of prolonging the life span of the elderly, but also the problem of reducing the children population. It is also an important issue for the government to help people to live with dignity and economic autonomy, and the housing pension loan (also called reverse mortgage) is an effective product of the present social and financial services. The individual''s subjective evaluation of self is so-called self-esteem (Wu Jiazhen, 2008). Meanwhile through various physical, instrumental and spiritual assistance is social support (Zhong Xiuhua, 1997). In the process of promotion of financial institutions, reverse mortgage often meets the middle and old aging people who are in poor economic condition. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the room-pension attitude of the middle and old aging people who are over 45 years old in the large Taipei area. We try to find their attitude on the room-pension attitude what are due to the influence of self-esteem and social support. The statistics analysis was carried out by methods of factor analysis, reliability test, regression analysis, T test, and ANOVA. The results are as follows: 1. The self esteem has a significant positive impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward room-pension. 2. The positive evaluation of self-esteem has a significant positive impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward the room-pension. 3. The self worth and negative confidence evaluation have no significant impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward room-pension. 4. The social support has no significant impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward room-pension. 5. The instrumental and informational support have no significant negative impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward room-pension. 6. The emotional support has a significant negative impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward room-pension. 7. The degree variable is the only one demographic of the middle and old aging people that has significant differences on attitude toward room-pension attitude. This study hopes to provide reference information to the academic and financial community. In conclusion the middle and old aging people with more positive confidence and more sense of self-worth will have more interesting on the room- pension or housing pension policy. The consumers need to be educated by the policy guidance, and the family members can strengthen constructive suggestions by providing the instrumental and tangible support, and that would increase the self-evaluation function.of the middle and old aging people.Finally we also find that the estrangement of the family members will have significant positive impact on the middle and old aging people’s attitude toward room-pension.
