A Niche Analysis on the Competition among Mobile device, Computer and Traditional TV: a study on Taiwan''s video watching

However, people have more choices in media of watching video in recent years while computer, Internet and Mobile device be invented one after another. 　　This study adopted the niche theory as the theoretical framework to investigate the competition among three types of audiovisual media: Mobile device, Computer and Traditional TV. An online survey was used to collect data for this study and 490 valid questionnaires were obtained. 　　The data analysis shows that there is a strong competition between Mobile device and Computer, both of which occupied better positions in terms of niche breadth than Traditional TV. According to the data from niche overlap, this study found that the competition between Mobile device and Computer was the strongest, while Traditional TV and the other two media were more complementary than competing. According to the data from niche superiority, Computer is the most superior media, and Traditional TV is the last. 　　This study found that the threat of Mobile device to Computer haven''t emerged, but Traditional TV is now in a difficult situation.
