This pre and post quasi-experimental study involved a total of forty-two elementary school students in two intact sixth grade classes in Taipei City and the experimental intervention lasted for four weeks. The experimental group designed Kodu games to assist them in learning English vocabulary, while the control group designed Kodu games for other purposes. Students’ perception toward Kodu programming was collected after the intervention. The results shows that there were no difference in learning motivation between students who learned Kodu game program and those who learned to design Kodu game for other purposes. Students who learned Kodu programming scored higher in English vocabulary posttest than those who did not design English vocabulary Kodu games.
