Usually, the utilization of 2D CAD drawings for MM of underground pipelines may cause misunderstandings problems easily. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an emerging technology providing an visual process for accessing virtual representations. Furthermore, Geographic Information System (GIS) technology is widely applied for handling geographic data and information for Facility Management (FM) work of infrastructure engineering. With BIM/GIS integration for MM for underground pipelines of infrastructure, the major benefits of applying BIM/GIS integration for MM includes presenting FM work through 3D illustration and making advanced decision for MM purpose. To improve the performance of MM for underground pipelines of infrastructure, this study develops a BIM/GIS integration maintenance management system for underground pipelines of infrastructure during the operation phase in the city. The proposed system is then applied in the selected case study to discuss the effectiveness of BIM/GIS integration maintenance management tool for the FM of underground pipelines of infrastructure. With the integration of BIM and GIS technologies, the combined results demonstrate that, a proposed system can be an effective maintenance management system for onsite engineers and managers. Finally, this study identifies and summaries the benefits, limitations, conclusion, and suggestions of proposed system for further related applications.
