Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 工業設計系創新設計碩士班 === 106 === Population aging has been a critical subject in recent years. Along with the changes in population structure, issues related to everyday dining, clothing, housing and transportaion have become subjects of intense interest. Due to their unique physique as a result of aging, the elderly often have difficulty finding commercially available garments that fit them. This research addresses the “clothing” aspect in the lives of the elderly and explores their daily clothing preferences. The research focuses on elderly men and women above 65 years of age and assesses the four aspects of the daily clothing preferences of the elderly: garment material, garment function, garment style and color. For each aspect, focus and elements are classified in detail and analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process to assess the daily clothing preferences with respect to different weights. The results from this research reveal that the elderly’s priorities when selecting their daily clothing are, in order of decreasing importance: garment material, garment function, garment style and color. Natural fiber as a material is preferred. Garments are valued for their comfort and modification of the underlying physique. Colors are chosen by color hues and with personal color preferences in selecting garments. The preference in style are T-shirts and Polo shirts. Both females and males prefer mainly pants and few females chose skirts. It is the hope of the researcher that the results of this thesis will contribute to the fashion design of daily clothing targeted towards the elderly in the future.
