As to whether I will be able to discover the Shangri-La of the world of ink painting, only time will tell. With a philosophy centered around fine art, I hope that apart from admiring the achievements of the old masters, I will also be able to explore the mysteries of ink in water. This study includes a couple of focuses. First, the relationship between life drawing and creativity. When engaging in life drawing, I gaze with full focus at the leaves and branches. If I can discover a world where form and content merge as one, a world with rich poetic imagery, then that place must be the answer to all mysteries of life drawing. This discovery is no longer solely for the sake of pleasure, but a significant discovery regarding the method of Chinese ink paintings. Furthermore, this study also elaborates my personal view on painting. From the perspective of aesthetics, I have always put my faith in three concepts that were introduced by Ni Tsai Chin: “brushstrokes and ink,” “material and technique,” and “choice of object and painting method.” These have become my guidelines, whether creating works or appreciating the works of others. Ni Tsai Chin once said that in ink painting, one should “first strive to reach the height of the ancient masters.” I insist on focusing on traditional methods and investigating the wonder of ink painting, progressing on the path directed by my mentors, and traveling as far as I can. This study is a pursuit of the glamor of the old masters, examining and practicing their ways both as a pupil and as a friend, and an overall review of my endeavors. 倪再沁 鄭月妹 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 54 zh-TW
