HAIs, which threaten patient safety, cause extended hospitalization time and increase morbidity, mortality and treatment cost. According to evidence-based studies, bundle care effectiveness has shown reductions in the rates of catheter-related bloodstream infection Retrospective observations which is from January 2015 to December 2017 were implemented in this study. This study explores the infection condition of the comprehensive ward at the case-study hospital in 2016 for the density of infections was higher than other years. Patients with central catheter indwelling received bundle care. CLABSI may occur and relate to patients’ gender, division, age, site of catheter placement, days of catheter stay, number of infective microbial strains, chronic disease history, disease severity (APACHE II), presence or absence of other treatments, antibiotic-resistant strains, clinicians’ work experience of placing catheters. In addition, care time of PORT-A placement of catheter, seniority and ability of nursing staff may impact on infection density as well. It is found that the infection density with 3.89‰ exceeded the value of threshold in 2016. The result reveals that division, gender, severity of illness, chronic medical history, treatment methods used or currently accepted, site selection of catheter placement, and days placed central catheter is relevant to infection density. Meanwhile, work experience and ability of new recruit nurses are impact factors of CLABSI. It is suggested that to provide training with a global and multidisciplinary approach, including behavioral and educational interventions for the whole team involved in catheter insertion and maintenance is necessary to prevent from the catheter-related bloodstream infections of patients. Furthermore, the education and training are able to achieve the goal of zero infection and improve the quality of patient care PAN,CHUNG-YU 潘忠煜 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 50 zh-TW
