Summary: | 碩士 === 亞洲大學 === 健康產業管理學系長期照護組碩士在職專班 === 106 === Background: More than half of areas in this world will be “aging society” in 2050, and Taiwan will be hyper aged country in 2025. Pneumonia ranks number three among ten leading death causes, especially elder people might stay in hospital longer because of inflammation of lung disease and it would increase cost and dead rate. The purpose of this research is to discuss the efficiency related to frequency of percussion on Pneumonia patient and monitored by smart mattress.
Method: This research is based on Quasi-Experimental Design, participants are patients who need long term cares and stay in one of the teaching hospitals in the central part of Taiwan, we totally collected 60 individuals who are diagnosed with Pneumonia by X-ray from OPD and ER and divided them into treatment(30) and control group(30) by purposive sampling; intervention is” frequency of percussion monitored by smart mattress ” to analyze the change on X-ray of Pneumonia patients, length of stays and expenses.
Results: We compared and analyzed two sets of X-ray pic with variables including frequency of percussion, length of stays and expenses which are the results monitored by smart mattress. There was no distinct relations between frequency of percussion and improvement(p﹥0.05), but those X-ray showed better improvement(5.36 times/day) had slightly higher frequency of percussion than those X-ray showed less improvement(5.28 times/day). And, as frequency of percussion intervened in length of stays and expense, there were distinct differences happened(p<0.05).
Conclusion: We found that the frequency of percussion still had indirect relation with improvement showed on X-ray, and had better improvement in length of stays and expenses. We suggest that the smart mattress could be used when it’s personal shortage and it could assist carers to monitor patients’ situation. These clinical data can also be references for related medical organizations or carers work in long-term care institutions to improve Pneumonia patients’ symptoms.
