Description
Summary:碩士 === 東方設計大學 === 文化創意設計研究所 === 106 === In recent years, due to the continuous advancement of medical science and technology, the lifespan of human has been continuously prolonged, and because of the change in ideological concepts; as a result, the fertility rate has been reduced and the population is aging. This is the issue that all the countries in the world must face, so does Taiwan. In addition to the fact that the fertility rate has been declining year by year, Taiwan will soon enter the “hyper-aged society” in 2025. Therefore, the policy of taking care of and promoting the health of the elderly should be actively promoted to respond to such issue. The policy of taking care of and promoting the health of the elderly can be explored from both psychological and physiological aspects. Take Taiwan as an example, every village and town also have different temples of worshipping different gods for their own religions. These temples not only can give elderly the psychological dependence, and to satisfy their physical and psychological needs by holding some activities. Therefore, if we take the consideration of the aging population as the starting point of the concept, integrating community culture and visual creative design into these activities will not only satisfy the psychological and physical needs of the elderly, but also give the community a higher level of spiritual sustenance and identity. Based on the analysis of the reasons for the integration of community culture and religion, this study adopted Fengciao Temple as the object of research which located at Ciaotou where the author lives for many years. Ciaotou is the only way to pass through the prefectural county and officials of Fengshan in the Qing Dynasty, and the only center station in the north and south. Due to the abundant water resources, special geographical environment and the development of sugar industry, Ciaotou has continuously gathered population to form a community settlement. Fengciao Temple is a local temple of worshipping Mazu in Ciaotou, and also the place where the local residents who especially the elderly, place their spiritual sustenance, so it has become a feature of the integration of local religion and community culture. The study was conducted in two ways. First, took religious semiotic as the principle to conduct Diachronic and Synchronic analyses on the Fengciao Temple architectural arts, Mazu costumes, and other headdresses from the data collected by reviewing the past literature history of the Fengciao Temple, interviewing the elderly who lived around Fengciao Temple for a long time, as well as the field survey, thus further to explore its in-depth cultural symbolic significance. Second, through the re-cognition, renaissance, and processing of historical and cultural significance, and following the traditional environmental meanings of "human" and "god" at the same time, the concept of the company's trademark image was incorporated into the visual creation design of Fengciao Temple. The creative process applied the semiotic principles of Ferdinand de Saussure, Roland Barthes, Charles Sanders Peirce, and iv icon, index, symbol, etc., translates the “Fengciao Temple” text, language, etc. into patterns, and introduced the Fengciao Temple themed trademark as the basis of plane visual creative design. Due to the combination of theoretical analysis and practical creative design, together with Fengciao Temple’s interviews and field survey findings, this study not only understood the key factors of the integration of local community culture and religion, but also knew about the ideas behind the profound meaning of the local community and its design performance that are more likely to reveal the common communication between diachronic and synchronic, and it gives the community care for the physical and mental health of the elderly and gives them a sense of identity at the same time. This study used semiotic theory as a basis for establishing a research framework, as well as research methods for visual creative design. It can also serve as a reference for future cultural and religious researchers in various regions of Taiwan.
