During this time if gas water heaters are used, incomplete combustion of carbon monoxide has nowhere to discharge and is then diffused in the house which accumulates a dangerous concentration of gases that leads to increased cases of carbon monoxide poisoning. Educating civilians in the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the key jobs for firemen during the winter. While firefighters have been actively increasing home visits as part of their advocacy work, they are still unable to effectively curb the numbers of deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Part of this is due to the increased rate of urbanization which leads to a high population density. In order to quickly increase space, many housing renovations are done without proper permits or much consideration for safety including risk factors of trapped carbon monoxide. Unfortunately there is still a lack of awareness when it comes to the concept of household safety today. Disaster prevention advocate's warnings often fall on deaf ears due to the dull stereotypical message they send, followed by the busy schedule most people have today, their message is largely ineffective or ignored. In light of this problem, the carbon monoxide card game was invented. Through the card game, information regarding carbon monoxide and its dangers are shared in a fun, relaxing manner while the game is played. Players are educate about carbon monoxide and raises their awareness to the issue in a way that is much more engaging than conventional pamphlets and lectures. User research trials were conducted between different age groups as well as gender types to get feedback of the game. The process is iterated multiple times to improve and maximize the game's effectiveness. Regardless of age or gender, people found the game to be a fun and much more appealing way to learn about carbon monoxide. Hsueh, Sung-Lin Huang, Chai-Hui 薛淞林 黃佳慧 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 57 zh-TW
