Description
Summary:碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 製藥科技研究所 === 106 === Taiwan has gradually turned into an aging society. As the numbers of the elderly people increases, the numbers of patients with multiple chronic diseases increases proportionally. Taiwan has an advanced medical care system, and under the National Health Insurance, the cost of drugs is generally affordable and sometimes is completely covered. Therefore, when people are uncomfortable or suffering from illness, people are very willing to go to hospitals and take medications. Nevertheless, among the elderly population, several reasons affecting the therapeutic effectiveness and occurring of serious complaint drug interactions or adverse reactions are as follows: having chronic diseases, failing to follow the doctor’s advice due to failing memory, deciding whether or not to continue taking the medication for themselves, using the wrong dosage, and changing drug metabolism. Consequently, it is an important issue of how to instantly provide effective and simple information for both the general public and pharmacists to understand the risk of incorrect medication usage especially for elderly people, and to give suggestions as appropriate. In this study, after referring to national and international references, we have designed an enquiry system of drug safety in the elderly. In addition, we have combined the system with the mobile application (APP) to make it more accessible for users. They can use the cloud database to check if a certain drug has any potential risk when used in the elderly. Moreover, the database can be updated easily at any time, so the users can get the latest information about new drugs as soon as possible. In conclusion, this study provides an easy-to-use database that is convenient, fast, and continually renewed, which meets our ultimate goal to improve drug safety in the elderly and lower the drug adverse events.
