Summary: | 碩士 === 南臺科技大學 === 國際企業系 === 106 === This research explores the relations of cross-cultural adjustment, achievement motivation, and organizational support of Taiwanese expatriates in Thailand. Based on previous studies, we have already known that cross-cultural adjustment, achievement motivation and organizational support, itself influence task effectiveness. The principal idea in this study aims to investigate the relationship between cross-cultural adjustment, achievement motivation, organizational support and task effectiveness. Moreover, also analyze how those three variables can affect task effectiveness. With those results, the organizations can apply strategies to engage those Taiwanese expatriates in contributing and developing working efficiently on tasks, in order to improve the performance of the organization.
This study surveyed by questionnaire to Taiwanese expatriates who are working in Thailand. The data obtained through conducting a survey was analyzed by various techniques such as descriptive analysis to provide the information regarding the respondent’s gender, age, respondents’ current position, a period of work and location of work in Thailand. Also, using Cronbach’s α, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Correlation Coefficient and Regression Analysis to observe the different viewpoints related to the respondent’s demographic profile.
There is a total of 309 research participants of Taiwan companies in Thailand. The results show all of the hypotheses supported. The results mean all of three independent variables are positively related to task effectiveness. Moreover, the two-factor theory of Herzberg (1959) is applied which be able to explain apart of achievement motivation; base on motivator, and organizational support; base on hygiene factor. This study found the correlation between achievement motivation and task effectiveness is the most significant which means if employees and managers have a highly motivated, they will perform the task effectiveness well. As a result, achievement motivation must firstly consider among those expatriates within the organization. Besides, when the manager proposes to encourage their employees to engage expats to Thailand, they should be considered seriously to come out with organizational support to satisfy those expatriates and following by cross-cultural adjustment which those expatriates must relearn everything or adjust to a new culture such as in general life, discern how to interact in a variety of social settings, and understand other cultural norms.
