The matrix scanner features high security, low cost and robust but easy operation. It can be applied to control a variety of electronic/magnetic lock or electronic switch. The research successfully implements the digital matrix scanning function of password input and detection. The hardware includes a USB-DC5V power supply, C51 single-chip and 4 × 4 matrix keyboard with 16 buttons including 10 digit keys of 0 to 9, *, # and A to D function keys. The LCD screen displays ****** before the 6-digit password is entered. OPEN is displayed when the password is correctly input while ERROR is displayed if the password is incorrect. When 3 times of incorrect password are input, the lock function is triggered, the lock LED is thus switched on and the alarm buzzer sounds is also turn on. The password can be changed by the user, which supports 6-bit password only. With the need of changing the password, you must double enter the new password to prevent from keying mistake.
