Summary: | 碩士 === 世新大學 === 公共關係暨廣告學研究所(含碩專班) === 106 === This study adopts a Multimodal Discourse Analytical approach to investigate how semiotic resources in the fashion film LV/MJ: Olivier Zahm Diary in 2012 and the trailers of two movies Bout de Soufflé in 1960 and Le Mépris in 1963 interact according to the “resource integration principle” and the “meaning-compression principle” to create meaning. From the perspective of social semiotics, individuals actively create and use means of representation and expression that are available and in their interests to communicate in their social contexts, thus modes and their application change the communication landscape. Considering the potential of digital media and the importance of visual literacy in the 21st century, this study is aim to examine the structive transformation of film adaptation. The efforts to apply the visual grammar network proposed by Kress and van Leeuwen in 1996 and revised in 2006 to these films is to describe the modes and metafunctions they serve in the visual design of the films metioned above, and recognize the dynamism of their interactive relations. In order to achieve a better understanding of signification, Barthes’ Five Codes introduced in 1967 is also adopted in this study to present the different approaches from a social semiotic perspective and from Barthes’ Five Codes.
