The composition was written in 1936, was commissioned by the South African pianist, Adolph Hallis. Hallis wanted Britten to compose a set of variations for oboe and piano to be performed at one of his series of concerts. After Britten Completed this Temporal variation , he dedicated this composition to author Montagu Slater, a colleague of Britten. In this composition, Britten veriaty the motive C-sharp to D to complete the theme and eight variation The first chapter is an introduction. The second chapter is a introduce s of Britten’s life and his musical language. The third chapter is focuses on the historical background of the Tempoal Variation. The fourth chapter analysis the Temporal Variation. The fifth chapter is the music analysis and performance interpretation. Finall chapter is conclusion of previous discussions.
