Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 企業管理學系 === 106 === As technology advances, it is even harder to distinguish the boundaries between work and home in today’s workplace. Not only should enterprises offer more flexible working methods, but vacation systems should also keep up with the times. G Company is the first company in Taiwan to initiate unlimited vacation, aiming to help employees maintain a balance between family and work and allowing excellent employees to manage themselves and work in a more efficient manner.
Therefore, the analysis concerning the company's implementation of unlimited vacations has its value in both the theory and practice of human resource management. To this end, this study, taking G company as the research object, uses the content analysis method to analyze document information before, during and after the company's implementation of the innovative vacation system. It contextualizes the diffusion process of unlimited vacations and explores the diffusion process of such vacation system and the relationship between this system and employees' performances. This study found that G Company spent a long time in the initial stage of trial and communication with colleagues upon proposing the idea of unlimited vacation system, eliminating various doubts and resulting in a group of early users (11.68% of the colleagues); the reason the use rate of colleagues in the next stage fell to the bottom (2.82%) may be related to the bureaucracy of the company that emphasizes the division of responsibilities and the order of power. On the other hand, this study also found that although employee usage is decreased, some micro-evidence indicated that unlimited vacations might help reduce employee turnover rate, maintain the work-life balance, and enhance the company's employer brand.
On the whole, documents related to unlimited vacations are mostly newspapers and magazines. From a theoretical perspective, there is still a lack of research in the analysis of the implications concerning the theory and practice. This research should contribute to this knowledge field.
