Summary: | 碩士 === 實踐大學 === 家庭研究與兒童發展學系高齡家庭服務事業碩士在職專班 === 106 === Caring dementia elders are the midlife developmental task when aging of population. We have
native culture that is "aging in place", so most of the elders like to be cared at home. Many
researches that midlife women are the main caregivers of the elders, they and their family usually
suffer from heavy burdens. Most of the studies explore the negative experiences of caregiving, but
also show positive life experience.
Grounded theory is employed in designing the research. Purposive and theoretical sampling is
chosen. Participants are eight midlife children who provide care for dementia parents every day.
The semi-structure, in-depth and face-to-face interview take one to two hours. The contents of the
interviews are audio-taped and typed within 48 hours after interview. The eight caregivers of the
midlife children who care for the mentally handicapped in the study have "care needs of the care
recipients", " caregiver feelings", "filial piety norms" and "intergenerational ambivalence " in the
care process.
The results of the study on the intergenerational contradictory experience of midlife child
caregivers in this study can remind the general public to correct the single feeling stereotypes of
home-care parents who are dementia.
