碩士 === 實踐大學 === 工業產品設計學系碩士在職專班 === 106 === Traditional entwined with thread is a symbol of high value with low cost traditional craft, and has been left behind by traditional society and struggling for survival nowadays. Even though the craft has cultural value and unique character, it is hard to avoid being substituted by moderrn technology. The traditional entwined with thread is unstable and easy to be damped due to original materials of paper. This research is series of experimental creations from design perspective to find opportunities for the traditional craft in modern scenarios by way of material change. Materials such as aluminum keeps the features of paper like thread texture, flexibility and color, but also gives more values by combining with metalworking and complex material to enhance the possibility and the feasibility. The design concept of series experiments is derived from the sky and historical building which makes the creation more meaningful, interactive and sympathetic. The final output such as accessory, brooch and watch respectively symbolize different aspects of life and present different contemporary life styles. In the end of this research, it is reviewed and verified by interviewing craft specialist, designer and channel distributor. This research is expected to complete a new creative craft with practical function in traditional craft from design perspective and the experience can be listed as follow: (1) A new try in combining materials other than paper in different colors with craftworks gives new possibility for craft. (2) New complex material and product function develop the feasibility of product design in modern scenarios. (3) Design has the opportunity to make traditional craft boutique through creating unique value on the market. (4) A new expectation in traditional entwined with thread as new craft industry will give more people the, opportunity to learn and practice the craft, thus saves the traditional.
