Description
Summary:碩士 === 實踐大學 === 工業產品設計學系碩士班 === 106 === This study addresses two important topics, empathy and social design, and explores the processes of interpersonal interaction and design. A lack of empathy and bias are both potential problems that may be encountered during these processes. Although design and popular science books both emphasize the importance of empathy, they rarely explain how one can practice it. Furthermore, the diverse forms of social design fully demonstrate their potential influence on society, in addition to their ability to allow individuals to further develop their civic awareness and personal influence. Through relevant design case studies, we can observe how designers interpret the meaning and value of empathy and self-empathy, and the concern that their designs show for other people. This study also goes on to propose the concept of “Collective Morality” according to Daniel Goleman’s concept that social intelligence is the basis of empathy. This concept advocates the shared value created through empathy and social design, and the idea that in order to gradually develop a sharable and flexible space, individuals must use a cyclical process of interactive dynamics to grasp the spirit of a space and develop feelings of connectedness with it, both of which are necessary media for social interaction. In the modern world, where individuals lead a combination of online and offline lives, methods of interpersonal interaction are gradually polarizing, wherein the passion in online interaction and the coldness in offline interaction have become normal. The objective of “Collective Morality” is to discard attitudes based on moral standards; in the process of interaction, it is always possible to display respect and understanding, and even to listen closely to and express care for one another’s experiences, thereby increasing the quality of interpersonal interaction, and accumulating capital for social interaction.
