LIS can reduce workload of hand-writing medical laboratory data, reduce error rate, and make management of medical laboratory data more efficient, in consequence, to improve the quality of health care service for patients. The purpose of this study is mainly to use Laboratory Information System (LIS) to integrate past experiences and make process improvement. LIS was divided in two parts. First part was through efficient barcode planning to improve whole procedures. From receiving the orders, printing barcode, pasting barcode on tubes, the medical laboratory received the specimens, and the specimen analysis is then completed with automated reporting. This part is mainly to avoid repasting another set of barcode to enhance the correctness of pre-test analysis. The second part is reminder system. When lab data reached a high-risk critical value, a reminding message was sent out via mobile device with notification and reply program to enhance real-time response rate. In addition to the two process improvement, system program was incorporated to assist the medical personnel for better operating convenience and personnel accessibility.
