Creating a suitable hairstyle is an important daily needs for the majority of individuals nowadays. Taiwan hairdressing business is developed by the demand of market. Recently, in order to satisfy the diverse consumer needs, Taiwan hairdressing business competes from individual workshops to large chain stores. Even though hair salons can be seen everywhere in Taiwan, the number of stores far exceeds the actual demand of customers. In order to make a hair salon to stand out in the fierce market, the owners or store managers are advised to figure out the complete business strategy.
The research investigates the strategic analysis of management practices of a chain salon store by examining its market development, industrial management, human resources management, and training to operational difficulties and solutions in the development of chain system. The researcher used qualitative method by conducting semi in-depth interview. A domestic hairdressing chain, ART101, was chosen, and six supervisors were recruited as research subjects to examine the difficulties and solutions of the hairdressing chain management. The conclusions of the study are as follows.
1. In the face of the dilemma of competitors, chain enterprises need to establish a barrier that cannot be overcome by their opponents.
2. In order to face the plight of consumers, the hairdressing chain must first obtain the employees’ recognition of the company which could effectively increase consumer loyalty to corporate brands.
3. Chain companies should allow their talents to stay stable in the enterprise, and employees must be treated as family members which employees can jointly benefit from the industry.
4. The key to successful operation of the hairdressing chain is to have a sound head office as a strong backing.
5. If a chain company wants to make a profit, it must first effectively reduce operating costs.
6. The development trend of the hairdressing industry in the future is to further subdivide the existing market and deepen the service content.
